Florida Panthers right wing Vlad Tarasenko has just secured a historic first Stanley Cup win for the franchise, and he’s celebrating in style with the purchase of a new home. The 32-year-old Russian hockey star recently spent $5 million on a waterfront spec house in Fort Lauderdale.
Located at 1523 Southeast 12th Street, the property was sold by SE 12 St LLC, managed by Vladlena Funk. The deal was facilitated by Maryia Zhauniak of One Sotheby’s International Realty, who represented the buyers, and Elizabeth Caldwell of Compass, who had the listing.
Monday night’s 2-1 victory against the Edmonton Oilers marks Tarasenko’s second Stanley Cup since he joined the NHL in 2012. Previously, he played for the St. Louis Blues for over a decade, securing a championship with them in 2019. His journey has also included stints with the New York Rangers and the Ottawa Senators before he was traded to the Panthers.
The new property has a rich history of its own. Vladlena Funk bought the waterfront plot for $850,000 in 2018 and subsequently demolished the existing structure. She completed the new 4,100-square-foot house earlier this year, which features five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a half-bathroom, a pool, and a dock spanning 65 feet of waterfront.
Funk initially listed the property for $5.5 million in February, according to Redfin.
Fort Lauderdale has become a hotspot for professional athletes. Soccer superstar Lionel Messi purchased a $10.8 million waterfront mansion in the city’s gated Bay Colony neighborhood in September. In March, his Inter Miami teammate Luis Suárez bought an $11.5 million waterfront mansion in the same area.
